ASCOMA ASSUREURS CONSEILS REINFORCES BOARD GOVERNANCE ACROSS ITS NETWORK WITH THE APPOINTMENTS OF VINCENT VANDENDAEL AND ZIAD YOUNES

Monaco, October 17, 2025 – Ascoma Assureurs Conseils, Sub-Saharan Africa’s leading independent insurance brokerage and medical third-party administrator network, has announced the appointment of Vincent Vandendael and Ziad Younes as members of its Board of Directors.

With operations spanning 23 subsidiaries, Ascoma Assureurs Conseils is a company of Chedid Capital, a leading investment group in the insurance and reinsurance industry that boasts an established presence in 85-plus countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.

The appointments reflect the network’s ongoing efforts to reinforce boardroom leadership, enhance strategic agility, and strengthen governance as it accelerates its strategic expansion in and beyond the African continent.

Two courses of international stature

Vincent Vandendael brings over 30 years of experience in developed and emerging insurance markets – including in the US, Asia and Europe – with a focus on strategic geographic expansion and financial management. He has held a number of leadership and executive roles at global insurance and financial companies, including as CEO Global Markets at Everest Insurance Company, Global Chief Commercial Officer at Lloyd’s of London’s international network, and CEO Asia Pacific for Zurich Financial Services’ corporate and commercial lines.

Today, Vincent serves as a Non-Executive Member on the Board of Swiss insurance holding company Baloise Group, leads insurance brokerage group MJM Holdings as Chair, and advises a number of managing general agents. He was also appointed to the Board of Chedid Re Global Operations, Chedid Capital’s reinsurance brokerage network, in July 2024.

“Joining Chedid Re’s Board earlier this year felt like a natural move – one rooted in shared values, strategic clarity, and a genuine sense of momentum. I’ve seen firsthand how committed the group is to governance, building real, local connections while thinking globally. Extending my involvement through Ascoma Assureurs Conseils in its dynamic African markets is a step I take with both excitement and humility. I look forward to collaborating with the team to further reinforce the network’s value and impact across borders,” says Vincent Vandendael.

Ziad Younes is Chairman and CEO of BUTEC Group, a leading regional engineering and contracting group that operates globally across electro-mechanical solutions, facility services, and the delegated management of public utilities. Ziad has led the group’s strategic growth across the MEA (Middle East and Africa) region, including the 2022 landmark acquisition of 17 energy service companies in Africa, previously held by French energy multinational Engie.

“Throughout my career, I have worked at the intersection of systems thinking, public-private partnerships, and regulatory complexity, and more often than not in fast-changing, cross-border contexts. Having led-large scale projects across the African continent, I know firsthand the scale of the opportunity it holds – and the importance of building governance models that are as ambitious and agile as the markets they serve. Ascoma Assureurs Conseils’s platform, within a wider international network, is an exciting space to contribute my expertise, to scale what works, and to innovate where it matters,” comments Ziad Younes on his appointment.

Governance designed for agility

“As our operations scale across different regulatory environments, sectors, and risk ecosystems, it is imperative that our governance structure be designed for adaptability, not just oversight. It also needs to be as multidimensional as our network: technically grounded, locally rooted, and globally responsive,” affirms Farid Chedid, Chairman and CEO of Ascoma Assureurs Conseils.

“The appointment of Vincent and Ziad to Ascoma Assureurs Conseils’s Board – bringing together regional, global, and sectoral depth – reflects how we see governance not as a static structure, but as a space to challenge and be challenged. That is the only way to remain truly responsive to the markets we serve,” he adds.
