Monaco, October 17, 2025 – Ascoma Assureurs Conseils, the leading independent insurance brokerage network and health manager in sub-Saharan Africa, announces the appointment of Vincent Vandendael and Ziad Younes to its Board of Directors.
Present across 23 subsidiaries, Ascoma Assureurs Conseils is a company of the Chedid Capital group, a major international player in insurance and reinsurance investment, with a presence in more than 85 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
These appointments reflect the group’s commitment to strengthening the governance and strategic diversity of its board, in order to support its sustained development ambitions in Africa and internationally.
Two internationally distinguished careers
With over 30 years of experience in developed and emerging insurance markets in the United States, Asia and Europe, Vincent Vandendael has distinguished himself through his expertise in geographic growth strategy and financial management. He has held several executive positions within major global groups, notably CEO Global Markets at Everest Insurance Company, Chief Commercial Officer of Lloyd’s of London international network, and CEO Asia for corporate and commercial activities at Zurich Financial Services.
Today, he serves as a non-executive director of the Swiss group Baloise, chairs the broker MJM Holdings, and advises several underwriting agencies. In July 2024, he also joined the Board of Directors of Chedid Re Global Operations, the reinsurance network of the Chedid Capital group.
“Joining the board of Chedid Re this year was an obvious choice, based on shared values, a clear vision and genuine collective momentum. I have witnessed firsthand the group’s commitment to governance and its ability to combine local roots with global vision. Extending this collaboration today to Ascoma Assureurs Conseils, at the heart of rapidly growing African markets, is a step I approach with enthusiasm and humility. I look forward to working with the team to continue strengthening the reach and impact of the network across borders,” states Vincent Vandendael. ” states Vincent Vandendael.
Ziad Younes, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the BUTEC group, brings solid experience at the intersection of engineering, energy and infrastructure management. Under his leadership, this regional group, recognized for its expertise in electromechanical solutions, facility services and delegated public service management, has experienced significant growth in the Middle East and Africa, notably marked by the acquisition in 2022 of 17 energy service companies previously owned by Engie.
An expert in public-private partnerships, integrated industrial models and energy regulation, Ziad Younes is also a founding member of the MIT Enterprise Forum for the pan-Arab region.
“I have always operated at the interface between systemic planning, regulation and public-private partnerships, often in rapidly evolving cross-border environments. Having led numerous large-scale projects across Africa, I fully appreciate the continent’s potential and the importance of building governance models as agile as the markets they support. Ascoma Assureurs Conseils offers a unique platform to put this experience to work for growth and innovation,” emphasizes Ziad Younes.
Governance designed for agility
“As our operations expand into increasingly diverse regulatory and economic environments, our governance must be designed to adapt, not simply oversee. It must reflect the very diversity of our network: governance that is technically sound, locally rooted and globally responsive,” affirms Farid Chedid, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ascoma Assureurs Conseils.
“The arrival of Vincent and Ziad, who bring together regional experience, international perspective and sector expertise, illustrates our vision of living governance, a space where we debate, learn and progress. This is how we remain truly connected to the markets we serve,” he adds.
